Perhaps there are topics similar to this one but I haven't really found what I'm looking for.

Question 1: What are your favorite forums/message boards in Japanese?

Question 2: do you have recommendations for forums like where Japanese natives discuss things like books (science fiction, fantasy, anything really), Japanese natives learning english (would be interesting to read and pick up the grammar from such discussions) sort of like this message board, PC games, miscellaneous topics (most big forums have a subforum with that).

I'm aware of places like 2ch but the layout there is tiresome to look at when everything is so jumbled. I like the standard sort of forum design like here on koohii, with several interesting subforums... I've done some googling but haven't come up with anything really good (I even asked natives on Lang8, but didn't get any real suggestions).

If you think 2ch has bad layout, then use Desktop2ch.tv...everything is organized nicely there.

I'm not a 2ch or 4chan user, but on 2ch, is there any certain tags/boards to avoid? I always hear about how theres disgusting and gruesome things on these boards sometimes.. :/ ( Talking about gore and things like that. )

Well if a topic has gruesome stuff it would usually have a warning like 閲覧注意

But most of the threads are pretty safe.

I'm also interested in hearing an experienced user's input on interesting boards, and some tips on reader applications with good layouts.

I've tried getting into boards that interest me several times, but I've just felt lost in an awful interface and been discouraged by pointless discussions. The only joy I've had is when I've searched up big threads for favorite video games.

If this gets you confused then I don't know what to tell you. There's every topic imaginable from fishing to painting to video games to hip-hop to NFL football.

And you can search for what you want to look for at the top as well.

The only downside is that there are annoying ads promoting adult games.

Does anyone know of any good (big) Japanese message board specifically for weightlifting, health, fitness etc (with several subforums just for those sort of topics)?

Thanks for the recommendation either way. I'm bookmarking everything here, and it's always good to have a diverse amount of sources.
