Every time I see this video I can't help but crack up, I found it subtitled in japanese and am very curious as to whether or not British comedy translates well into Japanese.

I thought this was the most obvious Japanese fail in the first minute:

English: I'd just wrap any old shit up and give it you.
Japanese: 適当に魚選んで包んでやるよ

EDICT seems to be missing 'any old shit' as a definition for 適当, though it does have:

2. noncommittal;  vague;  equivocal;  unserious;  irresponsible

Which I guess is not too wide of the mark.

The difficulty in appreciating the humour in the Japanese for me seems to be because up to now I thought of 適当 as quite a formal word, and やる doesn't seem particularly strong, though I guess that could come from watching too much anime

Here's another one:

English: Done up like a kipper.
Japanese: ニシンのように騙された (諺)

Though I guess that's not really a fair comparison.

I'm watching it and yes it's still funny in Japanese so far...
edit: Watching more now and I dunno with all the rhyming in the waxing scene. I think Japanese people would get it though, listening to the English and reading the subtitles.

@anotherjohn I'm sorry but 適当に魚選んで包んでやるよ is a really really good translation!! 適当に used like this really has a "just any old shit" kinda nuance and てやる too
And what's wrong with ニシンのように騙された (諺)? It fits considering the "learn English" theme and the whole "english words have multiple meanings" thing
