I don't know, 60%? Imo retention isn't relevant until after you've finished the book, no need to get stressed over it.

You're just starting on vocabulary aren't you? I don't remember what my worst was, but I'm sure I had a lot of 79% days. It gets better once you start noticing certain sounds often mean the same thing in different words. For instance, you probably know gaikokujin is foreigner, but you'll figure out that gai often means outside, koku means country and jin means person. So if you see anything with jin at the end, it's probably such-and-such type of person and Gaikoku is a trip outside the country...etc.
Also, once you get 3-400 vocabulary you can start on sentences and you'll get more exposure to the vocabulary so your rate will go up.

For my whole collection: 59%. It's also the only day I've ever failed every mature card.
For RTK, on the same day: 55%. I quit RTK three days later, lol (5 months after finishing RTK1, mind you).
Not counting learning and relearning.

45%, I think. That was round the 1000-kanji mark. It got a lot better towards the end though.

I think I had a few days around 70 %, it was horrible. Even with 90+ % I feel uncomfortable for failing so much (4 failed cards ahmahgawd)

Btw, on the supermemo theory page, they suggest a forgetting index between 20-30 is the most efficient range to learn the most number of things in the least amount of time. Of course a forgetting index of 20-30 translates to 70-80% accuracy.
The greatest overall knowledge acquisition rate is obtained for the forgetting index of about 20-30% (see Figure 3). This results from the trade-off between reducing the repetition workload and increasing the relearning workload as the forgetting index progresses upward. In other words, high values of the forgetting index result in longer intervals, but the gain is offset by an additional workload coming from a greater number of forgotten items that have to be relearned.
