removing furigana core 6k closed delete field

#1
Although I recognize the power of Anki I am a bit overwhelmed by it. I'm trying to export the deck, remove the furigana in excel, and then import it back again. Something isn't working because it's not going away.

This is the 1st card in the deck...

<b>( )</b>はとってもいい 話[はなし]だ。

I just want to get rid of the [はなし] part. I could live with it if it were on top of or underneath the kanji but right next to it is just too annoying. Getting rid of it entirely is best since side two will have the answer and audio anyway.

When I export does it matter what options I select? Notes in plain text with tags seems ok. It gets it into excel just fine and I can get rid of the stuff in the brackets. Then I go and save it to the same file using notepad.. and then try to import..

Which gives a screen with a lot of options. First I have to choose the type. COREPLUS-f369b looks like a good guess. The deck is the same.. core 2k/6k optimized japanese vocabulary. fields separated by tab. then I have to pick what to do if the 1st field matches.. update existing notes when first field matches is my best guess.

Then I press import on the right and it updates. A box shows up saying first field matched and then some japanese sentences or whatnot.

It seems to be done so I reopen the deck and the deck is exactly the same.

Edit: what jasberg says in the next post.

I wonder about the sorting, though: the card you say is first is actually number 7. If you'd like to use the optimized order, see step 2 of the usage guide at https://ankiweb.net/shared/info/702754122

you should be able to take care of this directly in anki by changing the formatting that is used for the area that you'd like to change. For example in my core 10k deck, it used to show furigana because the format for the sentence on the card was {{furiganaConfusedentence}} changing this to {{kanjiConfusedentence}} removed the furigana for all cards.

What jasberg said. Just a note that if you DO want furigana above the kanji, you can get that with {{furigana:Sentence-clozed}}. This is assuming you are using this deck and/or the field you want is called "Sentence-clozed".

As the other posters have mentioned, the field can be displayed differently if you have the Japanese support plugin from Anki web. It should also work straight away on AnkiDroid.

The plugin can be found here:

I don't have the plugin and it still works as described. I thought the plugin was only needed for automatically generating furigana for new notes?

{{furiganaConfusedentence}} changing this to {{kanjiConfusedentence}} worked perfectly for me. Thank you very much. It was a little tricky to figure out since I don't know html or whatever but it's working.
