Studying for JPLT2 in Japan this summer

#1
Hi everyone!

I would like to prepare for the JPLT 2 exam in December and go to study to Japan this summer starting from beginning or middle August for a 1-2 months period. I would like to study in Kyoto preferably, or Tokyo.

I would like to know good schools where you can learn a lot in such a short time, maybe full-time (morning and afternoon).

I also wonder how much Japanese you can learn in just 1-2 months period even if you're studying seriously, but still having fun, for 4-8 weeks and realistically speaking, how many weeks/months of study would take to pass the JPLT 2. I'd say my level is already JPLT 2 level but I'm lacking some kanji, vocabulary and grammar.

I'm also interested in hearing experiences of people studying for the JPLT 1 level.

Thanks!

My preparation for N1 basically involved adding around 4k vocab cards (I had 6k when I did N2), make sure to cover all 2000 or so kanji (add a word for each reading), study Kanzen Master N1 Grammar, and read a bunch of novels and news. I didn't do very well on the supposedly easy listening section but that didn't matter in the end as I still passed with plenty of marks to spare due to high score in reading/vocab/grammar.

I would say the part that took the longest was the vocab. 4k vocab took me 6 months. Vocab helps reading a lot, and one way to pass the N1 is by being good at reading (which also involves reading a lot of stuff).

If you are taking the December exam, then there's still plenty of time to study the grammar and vocab. Basically you should be at the level of core 6k and Kanzen Master N2 Grammar - and if you are not there yet you start studying now and not when you are in Japan.
