Can be in japan for 3 months, want to do something productive/learn

#1
Hello all,
since my work COE/Visa just fell through (finished all my courses but am yet to receive the actual diploma limbo) I find myself with availability in Japan of up to 3 months (90 days short term).
I fell in love with Japan while working there last year and desperately want to return and spend the most time i can there before entering the US workforce in September.

That being said I need something to actually do in Japan (a plan). I believe that the most efficient use of time would be to learn japanese. To this end i've done a lot of reading over the past couple of weeks about the different options but so many of them seem centered on this cultural immersion thing which sounds to me almost like a summer camp that's expensive. If I was going to "learn japanese" while there I'd want to actually put some effort into it, not pay for field trips.

So I found ISI, and the schools on Go Go Nihon, and was wondering if anyone had any familiarity with their effectiveness for a beginner? I know basically little to no japanese (doco desuka doesn't count for knowing anything).

Secondly: perhaps there's some way to spend my time that isn't centered on learning that won't completely break the bank? Anyone have suggestions?
Thanks!
