What's your favorite kanji?

#1
I'm not sure if there's already a thread for this, if there is I don't see it.

So what is your favorite? Can I assume it is the one used by your nickname?

I've grown to really like the kanji for bridge 橋. Not related, but せせらぎ is my most recent favorite sounding word.

Yes, the Ponte dei Angeli per Heisig. I like that one, too.

I was recently amused to learn 鯱 - シャチ. Seems Orcas are a fish that is ferocious like a tiger (there's actually a better etymology for that character but hey whatever makes it stick).

We have to pick only 1?

水 is one of my favorites, i guess just because I like water, and it's a nice and simple one to write.

習 is also another that I like, and if I was motivated to flip through my RTK book I could probably find several more.

女 is one that I don't really like, it always comes out weird for me, which then gets me annoyed

姦 for obvious reasons.

I like 咒 because it totally looks like a pacman ghost.
I hate 曇 because I find it a totally redundant kanji, plus everytime I try to write it, it doesn't stay inside the borders of a square, so it is not nice to look at (specially on small japanese fonts).

I have no idea why but this has to be my favourite:瓦
I'm confused too! Maybe it is because it looks like me after a few drinks

Probably because of the 姦しい meaning. 女三人寄れば姦しい lol

Ummm I don't know about a favourite but I like the Japanese way of remembering how to write 鬱!
リンカーンはアメリカンコーヒーを3杯飲んだ
リン(林)カーン(缶)は(ワ)アメリカン(※)コーヒー(コ、ヒ)を3(三)杯飲んだ lol

I like that there are two ridiculously complicated kanji for the same thing: 欝 and 鬱. I also like that they chose the more complicated one for the 常用 list.

魂 and 気 can both look great when written nicely.

My favorite is 輝 because of the meaning (sparkle), the writing and the word かがやく which has a nice ring to it.
Runner ups: 扉、響、慈、必、導

I see your avatar is 魑 Big Grin I recently learned 魑魅魍魎 (ちみもうりょう). I kinda like all the Kanji in that word even though it looks kinda weird. Always found it easy to remember and never failed it once in Anki.

Yes I also learned the character through my love of useless yojijukugo

Hmm, I like the shape of the one in my avatar, as well as the shapes of 春, 寒, 龍, 鼠 & 核.

孵 because it's the only kanji that contains 卵 radical, and it also hints about what it means.

(I had to hit my space bar 17 times on かえる to find that)
