This is driving me nuts. I have no motivation, no energy to work on anything (edit: on days I have this stupid headache). It's been going for a year now. Sometimes I wake up with a heavy head and it won't go until late atfernoon, late evening.
I tried Sedergine and it doesn't do anything.
I tried a Sinutab this morning and it doesn't do anything.
I woke up with my nose blocked. Could I be badly breathing throughout the night?
I'm thinking pollen allergies in April /May .. but my nose is not running, I don't cough.. I just have this stupid headache which is not pulsating, just making me feel unfocused and pretty much wasted all day. :/
Ughhh... I could use some clues if anyone's experienced something similar.
I guess it's about time I see a doctor on May 22, maybe I'll ask for a full allergies test. I've had some in the past but they were swollen lips, not headaches.
Is it possible that not breathing through the nose properly really messes up your sleep/energy and gives you headaches? I'm leaning on that because I can often barely breathe through my nose when I lie down and often just on one side. But the thing is it's not blocked by gunk or whatnot: if I pull up a nostril with a finger, then suddenly I can breathe freely and it feels wayyyy better. >_>

Lack of vitamin D?
Tbh it sounds like a chronic fatigue syndrome. It would probably be good to look it up and mention it to your doctor.

It could be rhinithis, sometimes it doesn't cause nose running, I suffered from it but becouse I had not nose running I didn't know what it was, until a good doctor prescribed me a nose spray containing "budesonide", and after a month it was super effective. Do you have pain in the "third eye" spot?
Do you drink coffee? Do you wear glasses? It could be many things, it's better you go to a good doctor, I sincerely hoper you find a solution as soon as possible :/
Keep us informed!

If you feel like the reason is your nose, it might also be that your nasal cartilage isn't straight enough or that the holes in the back (no idea how they are called) are too small and therefore you can't breath freely. This was the case with a friend of mine, who had problems with his nose breathing. However, he didn't have headaches...

If you feel like your sleep isn't refreshing, you might have sleep apnea caused by the swelling in your nose; that could also explain the headaches (poor sleep along with sinus swelling definitely wouldn't be fun).
It could stem from allergies, but if it's already been going for a year, there's almost certainly something else involved; did your diet or medicine change in the past year? Did you move? If the answers are no, it's likely to be something else.
I had an experience where, for nearly two years, I had almost constant sinusitis caused, initially, by pollen allergies, but continuing to recur for seemingly no reason after rounds of antibiotics (I think my immune system was being compromised by an unknown wheat allergy or gluten sensitivity, but I'm only just getting around to checking that). Anyway, I never really had a problem with runny nose, but there was plenty of post-nasal drip, I often had a persistent headache, and I usually couldn't breathe through my nose at night.
When you go to the doctor, they should be able to tell you what's going on. If it has been a long running sinusitis or other infection, you should be very careful about your health during and after treatment to prevent a recurrence.
(I'm not a medical professional of any kind, I'm just going off of my own experience and what I've been told by doctors in the past.)

I agree with checking for sleep apnea. I have a CPAP device. It can make a huge difference, although it's not pleasant to use.

Sounds like sinusitis to me. The inflammation can be caused by any number of things (low-grade infection, seasonal allergy) that alternately subsides and flares up. Beware of being prescribed antibiotics if there is no evidence of bacterial infection. Have you tried a short course (a few days) of an NSAID such as ibuprofen?

No I haven't done any medicines yet.
It makes sense.. now I remember in April I had some sort of infection in the nose, it was bleeding a little bit. I had some kind of gel from the pharmacy that's supposed to heal the skin but didn't seem to do anything. So I used drips of sterile water to clear the nose now and then and it seemed to be gone, but maybe it sill hasn't healed properly.

For a sinus flush, you should use saline.
If it's as bad as you say, it might be worth the trip to the doctor; granted, if it's just sinusitis, they'll either prescribe antibiotics or tell you to flush your sinuses every day until it clears.
Hope it heals up.

Most likely some kind of Rhinitis. Took a Sinutab today and feeling better already, finally I can breathe...
Man it's going to be like being reborn again if the doctor appointment gives me a proper solution or at least a good prevention for it (antihistaminics maybe?). Sleeep; SLEEEEEEP.

I've actually been suffering from all sorts of "nasal night breathing" related problems for years (including headaches). And although, in my case, there definitely is some link to food allergies, testing in the hospital was inconclusive and I was told to "simply learn to live with it". The antihistamine spray did not yield any results.
I do have some bits of advice, though:
- in terms of food allergies, nuts and seeds are a good bet for irritating your sinuses. (Specifically sesame seed in combination with something sweet, in my case). So in case you have recently begun to consume certain nuts or seeds (perhaps as part of a new type of bread), this might be the cause you're looking for. Think of hazelnuts, peanuts, raisin bread that often contains nuts,
- sleeping on your back makes it likelier that your nose will close up during the night. So if this is your preferred position for sleeping, then you might want to try sleeping on one of your sides. Even if you have slept on your back for years without any trouble, changing to a sideways position may still provide you with some relief. (BTW, I don't mean to scare you, but.... if sleeping on your back is causing the closing up of your nose, then this may point to heart trouble. Since you're still young (assuming your picture is recent), this does not seem likely, though).
- nasal sprays also come in the simple salient variety these days and are quite cheap, thus saving you the trouble of making your own and sniffing it up without a spray. (I saw it at an Etos drug store, so maybe if this chain also operates in Belgium?)

So it is as I thought. The doctor looked at my nose and immediately noticed it is quite thin, and there is some kind of deviation of the nasal cartilage, which requires surgery.
Now I have to take appointment with another specialist to decide what kind of surgery, potentially widening the sides to let more air in.
Told him about my headaches and he is content I don't have allergies and it is caused by improper breathing.
So now I'll probably wait another month for another appointment, and he didn't even suggest any sort of relief.
I bought some nasal strips hopefully that will help a bit in the meantime.
Yayyyyyy.

My 2nd appointment with another ORL specialist is in January ... >_>
Thankfully I just found out abouth nasal strips like BreatheRight, it works great! I'm still wearing the one from last night.
I've found out also about something called "nasal dilatator" that people also use for sports, to get more air in during exercise. I may or may not work as well as the stirps, anyone use these?

Yesterday I got a nasty headache above my eyes that started in the afternoon >_>
Something I've experienced since as long as I remember, is when I breathe well through my nose, and I'm outdoors, sometimes I feel a little pain in the upper area of the nose.
Anyone experience that? I thought in the winter it was due to the cold air, but I also had this pain yesterday on a sunny day.
