Strange how we're not talking about porn anymore. Don't remember if this was already summarized or not, and I don't particularly care (I need to be relevant, since my comment is otherwise pointless).
Summary:
-VNDB is your friend (learn the tags)
-ITH is your friend
-Dictionaries are your friends
-Nukige for all smut, no story
-Eroge for (generally) lots of story and much less smut
-JAV is likely not going to help you at all
-H-manga is better to learn from than H-anime (and is more diverse and has high quality products and products in general), so if that's something you like, go for the still medium.
