This one is about a girl and her tentacle monster. And it's apparently not even a nukige!

Use http://www.vndb.org and use the tags. Probably the closet stuff to Human Centipede would be stuff in the Guro category.

I found G線上の魔王 and あやかしびと very good for learning. They're both adult games. No tentacle rape, I'm not interested in such crap, and I skip the H scenes most of the time, because the stories of these games are interesting enough to keep me reading.

maybe you should check out sexual japanese tv lol. I think you'd like it more than porn but i guess mileage varies depending on how much you understand.

just google it.... and you should be able to watch it.
this was really funny to me. av summit .
I think this show airs at 2 am or something.

I listed the kikaku order of recommendation.

ALSO くだまき八兵衛 is like that too. they had an av女優 on one of the episodes. the talk was interesting...

I love how the title is "Normal Japanese porn for learning...." and eroge gets suggested fairly quickly

That just proves how many people think it's better for studying than live-action porn.
As well as proving a few other things...

Well, eroge do have porn in them. They're not exactly porn videos, but if you're looking for such stuff, just go to YP and search for "japanese", you'll surely find some stuff with some lines.

But isn't that boring? 1-2 sentences, a few 気持ちいい、痛い、すごい、ダメ and horrible pixeled-out censorship. Even uncensored videos are rather dull - Japanese are not exactly great at producing porn.

With eroge, you do actually have a learning element. A story, characters, dialogues (most of the time spoken ones), etc. You also got the lines along with the audio, so you can re-listen to the sentences while reading until you can clearly understand them. And well, you got some sex scenes, if you really feel you need those to motivate yourself.

That is debatable. Just ask the Chinese, by far the biggest consumers of Japanese porn. Sora Aoi, though also popular in the Western world, is far more popular in China. When Sora Aoi offered her condolences on one of China's earthquakes, the Chinese Internet sat up and paid attention (ref: ChinaSmack article).

Having said that, locally produced porn is banned in South Korea/China and/or the respective countries are still too socially conservative to start their own porn industry so it's not like J-Porn has much competition (Asian-American porn are a completely different category and arguably inferior).

That is disgusting. You really should be more graceful and not carelessly admit extremely deranged stuff like that. At least not without a spoiler.

I want to agree with you but honestly as long as he only enjoys imaginary human centipedes that seems fine by me. I find the thought of the "regular" human centipede to be incredibly disturbing, and can't see how anyone could derive enjoyment from it, so it seems pretty arbitrary to decide that human centipede's are a reasonable source of entertainment unless they're sexy.

VNs are like Manga or Anime, and that's the point.
There's so much diversity, there are all kinds of topics, settings, a lot of very different Japanese.
Take "Little Busters", for example, or "Kira Kira", those are very "young". The Japanese they use is the kind young Japanese people use, they talk about rather trivial things all the time. Then you have something like "Stein's Gate", where a lot of (pseudo)scientific stuff pops up, and otaku-like language. "Devil On A G-String" provides you with rather casual Japanese, but at the same time introduces some crime-related vocab. Then you have Sci-Fi ones (MuvLuv Alternative) with a lot of technical vocab, war-related vocab, and so on.

Of course there are very unsettling VNs, too ("Song of Saya" comes to mind), with rotten tentacles all over the place.
There are "all ages" ones and "adult" ones, some games even have 2 versions (because, let's face it, cut out all the sex stuff from a VN and it doesn't matter at all, all the sex stuff is just added without deeper context anyways, kinda like "fan service" in Anime).

Try to look at VNs as what they are: Entertainment made by natives for natives. Japanese people don't program games for foreigners who want to learn Japanese, they'd be broke in no time Wink But you can use them as a resource, just like you can use documentaries in Youtube, stuff like "Erin", and so on.

What, people liking porn, people liking porn with plot, or people discussing said porn as a potential study tool?

As this thread is discussing, various forms of pornography offer a decent chance to study, as they generally follow the same scenes over and over; but there are also materials that offer diverse plots while retaining the same core scenarios and vocabulary.

I could go on and on about why your reaction is worthless to this thread and just poor in general, but if you want a brief response instead: grow up or don't comment.

My own research in this area gave me a new perspective on this Core6k sentence:

lots of righteous indignation on this internet forum at people who like porn and stories with dark plots. How did you even find your way to this website without encountering, god forbid, a nipple?
Human centipide is rather tame compared with some of the manga that has been recommended to me on this very forum.

qwertyytrewq you should check out 殺し屋一 or 闇金うしじまくん for some yummy darkness...

Well said andikaze. Eroge is truly one of the best media to learn japanese(if you are into that kinda jap culture).

I've watched and read koroshiya ichi. It is delightfully sexually violent. Ichi is what all bully victims should aspire to.

As for the other, never heard of it.

I pretty much learned to read Japanese through eroge. I fought myself slowly and painfully through some 1-2000 pages of light novels before I got started on eroge which really made my reading take off. For some reason I can't motivate myself to read an hour of light novels, but I can play eroge until I fall asleep from exhaustion every day if I have the time. Also it's much more convenient to look stuff up in an eroge, or vns in general.

VNs are my preferred method right now, too. I'm playing あやかしびと and plan to do Clannad after this. I played Clannad some years ago with an English patch and I'm also a great fan of the anime. It's not porn at all, but I'd recommend it anyways.

Clannad is just too long for me, like all VNs from key. Don't know if I'll ever play it, I kinda want to, but to get anywhere is 100hours+ at my current reading speed, 100% completion would likely be 250-300hours (estimated to be 150hours at native reading speed), too long for me to even think about it.

Yeah, I'm damn slow myself. Speaking and listening is all fine, but reading is a really tough beast. Then again, I'm not sure it matters if you do 10 games a 50 hours or one a 500. I played MuvLuv Alternative, and that was the longest thing I've ever seen in this format.

There are things such as etiquette and reasonable social standards; being an introvert on the internet learning Japanese (this is what we call a nerd) you likely fail to understand either of these.

While I have no problem with this thread personally (the VN discussion is useful) it doesn't mean his response isn't allowed or not warranted. Grow up.

Sure, it's allowed (it doesn't break any rules), but that'd be like, in a discussion about, I don't know MLP or something, someone says what manwhodares said. It'd be considered flame baiting. Granted, I could have ignored such bait, but it still annoys me to no end to see posts by immature individuals that feel they need to post their distaste of a topic in a perfectly legitimate thread about that topic.

There is absolutely nothing constructive in that post; even if they thought the whole thread was BS, they could have said why and it would have been a perfectly acceptable post, but this one isn't.
And the 'grow up or don't post' was indeed for brevity, no matter how crass it is, I've never had confidence in my ability to blow smoke and would prefer saying what I mean.

And yes, I'm a nerd. I'm also a lot of other things. I can't think of a single one that I'm unhappy with being. Self-hatred is unproductive and makes your life suck.

And, for your information, I understand etiquette and standards of politeness better than most, evident by the information above (EDIT: information was removed. Oops. Let's just say that, in real life, I have been greatly rewarded for my social conscientiousness). Not to mention, if I'm breaking standards of etiquette by calling out someone on their breach of etiquette, that means you are also breaching etiquette by calling me out on mine. Justify this without voiding your argument and calling yourself out as a hypocrite, and I'll give you an internet.

Also, if you're using 'introvert' as an insult (hard to tell in this situation), you're ignorant of what introversion and extroversion actually are. You are right, however, that I'm an introvert, but that means nothing here. I encourage you to read about the topic, as there are some really interesting theories in it and the various statistics are also exciting to learn about.

I don't care that you don't care about this thread, but you know what? You don't have to participate. For all your talk of etiquette, you seem to have forgotten one of the basic rules of discussion board etiquette: don't screw with topics you don't care about; if you have nothing productive to post about a topic, don't post anything. It saves everyone some time and prevents arguments like the one we're having now, which is a waste of time and space.

Something relevant so that I'm not a complete hypocrite:
I also found reading through VNs to be an extremely long process. Early on, I found it much more enjoyable to read VNs that were fairly linear (or entirely so), so that I didn't have to worry about completing multiple routes and wondering whether I actually unlocked all the necessary choices to do so.
I just remembered that there are guides floating about for some games to help get all the endings, so there's always that.
