Learning Japanese with Pokemon

#1
Hey guys,

I use this site all the time to find obscure tips (like that Adobe Acrobat Pro can turn an image of Japanese into editable text very well). I'm hoping to contribute to that. I'm starting to do some hacking around SRS and currently attempting to use Pokemon as a learning tool. I'm publishing my findings on my blog for ease, but I'd love to keep a discussion here where I can get input and get feedback/ideas from the community. I've got over 10 years programming experience, so there's not much I can't do. I'm just trying to get the best bang for my time Smile

Anyway, it's here if anyone is interested:
Episode 1: Kicking off the series
Episode 2: Hacking audio into Memrise

Any questions, feedback, ideas, please throw them my way!!

I found a site that has parsed the transcript out of the ROM files, for English. With a few hours I could probably get a prototype that parses the English and Japanese and associates them. It would save me a lot of effort. That's assuming I can get the C/C++ code that I can see they are using for the English. I could make these available in on a website. I just don't know if there's a use for that for anyone else. I try to create things others can find useful, where possible. Developer philosophy.

OH. MY. GOD.

If you did that, I would kiss your feet. I've been trying to do that shit for ages with no luck because I'm too disorganised to get good at engineering again.

I would worship you for a thousand, thousand suns.
