Congrats hatsuyuki15! I'm almost 3/4 of the way through at this point. When you hit the halfway mark, you might find things easier and harder at the same time. Easier because you understand the method, but more difficult because your reviews will increase, there will be some synonyms you get confused (I suggest putting a hint in the card if you can so you know which kanji you are actually reviewing), and you'll have over 1000 characters in your head that you have to sort through instead of just 500.
Keep up the pace! You'll be done in no time. Don't do what I did and miss a few days of reviews and end up with 700 of them. It took me a while to get back to adding new cards. :-). I wanted to finish on Christmas day and that did not end up happening :-(.

I hit 575 frames today. I started a just a little over 2 weeks ago. I'm trying to stay on a pace of 50 frames a day. But it is difficult since I am also going through the Genki I textbook at the same time. So you have the Kanji to memorize and more words to memorize in the textbook. I spend about 2.5 hours to study Kanji a day which includes the reviews. Then I spend at least another 2 hours on Genki. My plan is that while going through RTK, I'll finish up Genki I and then move onto Genki II. From there I'll try either the iKnow Core Series or KO2001. I'll also look at the "An Integrated Approach to Intermediate Japanese" textbook. Does this sound like a reasonable plan of action assuming I manage to get through it all?

Gratz Potbelly! I just hit 650, and I have to say, the 400 - 800 stretch is probably the hardest. I looked at the lesson kanji spread, and almost all of the lessons with 50+ kanji are in this stretch, and to top it off there's even a lesson with more than a 100 symbols in it. After I finished the 80 symbol one I stopped learning new kanji for 4 days, which I feel was a mistake, I could've advanced so much.
I feel like everything'll be a walk in the park after I master lesson 25.

Please can someone help me with some info. I've been using RTK1 I used to come here to revise my kanji, get help to make up stories, save etc. I've been very busy, so I haven't been here in a while. Now I've returned and I'm completely lost, can't even find the study tab. Have there been some changes? Thank you for your help

500 WOO!
Who's bright idea was it to put 90 kanjis in this lesson?
(going slower than expected, but at a satisfactory pace nonetheless. One month&one week, considering the fact that it's exam season and RTK is low on my priority list).

Hello all, I'm new here and so glad I found the forum! I've been working through the book at 20/day and hit the 500 mark a few days ago.
I miss starting out where I only had a few reviews to do everyday and could just focus on learning the new Kanji.
I took some of your advice about being more strict w/ failing cards. Seems to actually be helping me a lot. I don't want to get half-way through and realize I only know half of what I learned!

Just hit 500!
I did RTK a few years ago and made it to about 600, so this is me getting caught back up to where I was before. Only 100 left...
I've found that doing little chunks throughout the day is the best. Have RTK with you on the go and do a few frames here and there throughout the day. I'll also do things like... do 10 frames before I go to the gym, then after I get back, do another 10 frames before going on to something else.
Spreading it out this way I've been able to do about 40-70 per day. I don't make that a minimum though... if I only feel like doing 10 on one day, that's all I do. Just find your motivation and keep it strong, but don't set rules for yourself. As soon as you look at it as a "chore" or "i have to get my minimum in," that's when your motivation gets killed and this stops being fun.

Just hit 500 too, after around 3 weeks of study which included a 6 day holiday where I couldn't do any new kanji.
Keep going everyone!

I also hit the 500 mark recently and as of today I'm at 580 WOOT, but there's still a ways to go and i'm even more motivated to do more. Especially since I'm on Easter break i want to do as much as i can before school starts again. With every kanji i learn i just feel that one step closer to Kanji Bliss, it's soo vivid i could almost smell it "tearful sigh". My personal goal is to finish in 3 months and as today i still have 2 months 2 weeks and 23 hours. >< yes i keep count

Just passed the 500 mark! And only after my third try at RTK.....Woohoo!!
Everyone is talking about the rush you feel at this milestone. For me, up to this point was mostly review, as I stopped just before 500 last time. So now, the Kanji before me are all new, which means I get to start REALLY making new stories. Just means more work, and I feel like I have to learn to sloooow down and not rush. I don't have a set goal to hit 1000 at a certain date. Just one day at a time!!

500, HUZZAH!
I started a bit over a week ago, been going at a rate of 70ish per day. (Knowing a good chunk of simplified Mandarin helped a lot admittedly) Just a couple more weeks! My schedule has literally turned into any spare time? Learn more Kanji.

And I probably shouldn't forget this while mentioning my 1021 kanji; on to the 1500-something kanji now!

Hit 500 a few weeks back and have pushed on to #860.
Stalled around 500 countless times and gave up. But once you get to about 600 or so you really pick up a head of steam and they go much more quickly.
Keep on pushing on everyone! It's a great feeling!
