Thanks a lot for the nice comment (: I'm hoping to finish by summer, so by the time I've finished my exam retakes I will be able to start moving on to non-RTK Japanese. Just gotta keep trucking. It's nice to see that someone felt the same as me when they got to this stage, too

Finally I get to post in one of these threads! Just finished Lesson 19, so I'm on 508 and counting . Slow but steady is my motto (I've been averaging about 10/day). Sometimes I don't do my reviews but I always make up for it quickly (though of course after 3 days the reviews have piled up ). Here's to another 1500+ until I'm finished. Can't believe I'm roughly 25% done. Craziness.

Gosh lesson 18 was quite big, but it was one of the most fun so far. 514 frames down...(using 6th edition).

I would never have got this far without the site (and through reading the advice on the forums) so thank you.

Barely noticed I hit frame 951 from just studying sentences! If that's the case, this is going to be really easy. Also I see RTK 3 kanji a lot more frequently so I'm guessing studying that after RTK 1 is important.

500 Yay! and 100% retention so far. Heisig's method is unbelievable. The more I learn, the more excited I get. Way to go us!

Just hit 500 for the second time. Took me eight days. I bumped up from 50 to 60 a day. Starting to get a little burned out feeling. I feel like I should probably slow down, but school starts on Aug. 29 and I know my productivity is going to take a steamy dump.

All I wanna do now is go play Mass Effect. French dub of course...

I'm too lazy to make it to 100% retention, but I'm at 508 now as well. :-)

I've just passed the 500 mark, and it feels so good!
I don't want to talk about my retention, coz I'm working on grammar, vocabulary, listening, and conversation at the same time...
However, my plan is to finish the book in 2 more months and then keep on reviewing while studying using KO2001 to the point where I can get 95% retention

1740 and counting in 20 days hoping to get the rest done in the next 2 days. That means i'll be well under my target for a month. I found just after one kanji one picture ran out to be quiet hard but then i remember the study part of the site and used everyone's stories as insiration for my own.

I'm finding studying new kanji less and less painful. I'm probably getting better at creating stories and mental images that stick in a reasonable amount of time. That's good.

However I'm having troubles going from kanji to keyword. That's not so good...

Nice work! And don't worry, I think you'll find that kanji to keyword is irrelevant or even harmful anyway. The book recommends learning only keyword to kanji, after all. Don't worry about the reverse direction and keep up the good work!

Finally got 500 kanji . It was not that easy to sometimes remember both kanji and new vocabs. But I made it. Yay!

past 500 today (took 2 weeks); starting to go a bit slower now cause i fail about 20-40 a day

I "learned" the first 500 or so in about two weeks. Unfortunately, it took another week to crystallize my gains. Shows me up for not reviewing until after like 250 characters. I believer I could have finished in two weeks still but I just messed up. Anyway, 1/4 of the kanji done! 1/2 of the book done!
