Just broke 501.

I started RTK I about three months ago and got off to a good start, but somewhere in the 400s I missed a few days and the reviews started piling up. Since then I haven't gotten back into the habit as much, but reading the posts here has been really encouraging! My next goal is just to make it to 600 and study some every day.

It is incredible, what i was able to achieve so far, over 500 kanji, and most of all of them stick well now. It is a great feeling, really, a/w/e/s/o/m/e!

I just passed the 500 mark this week! I started RTK in May and it has been a slow journey so far. I'm looking forward to the next leg.

I really appreciate the effort the community put into crafting stories - most of the time it is through the community stories that I finally learn the kanji, when Heisig does not work for me. Thank you all!

Seriously though I just hit 500. 1/4 I feel invincible. BRB going to go punch out a bear.

I recently finished RTK1 and the supplement, although all I did was preparing the stories (50-100 a day – my record is 200, but my head was hurting so much I couldn't do it again), because I'm attending university (this particular one requires 6 hours of my day), so I didn't have time to both prepare stories and Anki them in the same day (I tried with only 25 a day, but it didn't work once I got too many reviews). I still remembered a lot more than I thought I would, and I hit 500 in Anki a couple of days ago. I can say with absolute certainty that at least 1/4 of all the jōyō kanji are more than belong to me!

Second time around for me - got to about 250 the first time a couple of years ago and then got sidetracked by...something, I'm not quite sure what. Now I'm finally somewhere over 500, depending on how you count it. I figure if (total - restudy) > 500, that's good enough. Also, I'd known for a long time that this technique was supposed to work, but understanding that versus experiencing it are two very different things. I still can't believe it. I'm trying to continue at about 100 a week, which is plenty fast enough for me.

Just added in my 500th card a few minutes ago. It feels great to be 1/4 of the way through.

Now just keep steadily going and you'll be done soon. Expect some difficult times at around frame 800, 1300 and finally 1800, though... And, interestingly, right after you've finished. That was kind of hard for me.

I ( once again ) passed frame 500 today. I've been doing about 50 kanji a day for the past two weeks, and it feels great.

Just hit 500. Feels good, I thought maybe going 100 a day would be too much, and it might well turn out to be, but right now it's got nothing on me. Incoming 1000!

Hit 500 today! This time i feel confident with the stories too This is my third attempt since 2009 but this time I've been relying on the stories here and what a difference I must say! It must be a generational thing or something, the stories here are much easier for me to relate to, and to top it off some of the stories are so amusing I find myself excited to do more!

15 in the morning, 15 at night, and reviews during the day has worked pretty good for me. A good steady pace which should see me finished by uni hopefully.

I'll be so much more efficient in my classes once i get through with this, can't wait!

Finished Part 2!! I was originally going to wait until tomorrow but I was just sitting around listening to J-music and surfing the internet SO i thought i'd do like 10-15 more. 10-15 turned into like 30 something Kanji and now part 2 is down!

508! ROOOOAAARRRRR!

I hit 500 kanji yesterday and did another 8 kanji tonight to finish out section 2. Yahoo!! Must keep pressing forward to finish RTK quickly so that I can move on to something else. While I am enjoying (most of) this process, I want to start reading Japanese materials!

Got to 508 last night!! It has taken me a long long time to even begin to get into a habit of actually doing these daily since I started this process in October and am only just now over 500. I can't do more than 20 a day simply because with my ADD it takes me a couple hours just to get that, kanji to keyword reviews, and Rosetta(yes I know everyone hates it, but I got it as a gift so I will at least finish level 1) done and I don't have more time than that to dedicate. I would love to be finished by the end of June so that if/when I do head to Japan for study abroad I will at least have them all added. I can't thank this site enough because I know I never would have made it this far without it!

Yeah this website definitely keeps you in the game. I'm so lazy that I would of probably given up at 508 if I didn't have this website as a source for the stories. Congrats and my plan is to finish before studying abroad as well. I plan to take a trip during the summer also so I would like to be finished with RTK1 if not RTK3 by that time. Keep up the work and try not to miss a day. and if you do miss a day pick up like nothing happened and only do what you would have tried to do the day before. Don't try to play catch up. 俺の2円.

I just ended my RTK for the day - and I finally hit kanji #500! w000t! I actually started RTK last year, but I kept slacking on it - i'd get about 100-125 in and then I'd freeze up on it, and neglect it for ages, leading me to start over. This time around, though, I'm not trying to overload myself - only doing 20 new kanji a day if I feel confident enough to move on, and 0 new kanji, reviews only, if I don't or if I'm not feeling so well. This way I haven't been overloaded with too many, whereas before I felt like I was binging on kanji, trying to do 60 or so per day.

I'm gonna be through this in a matter of 2-3 months, methinks

I didn't even realise I'd hit 500 at first, but I'm there now! I've been trying to do at least a few kanji a day and those 'few' keep turning into 30+! I don't know what's got me so motivated lately, but I'm not complaining. I'm not paying attention to how many I'm doing, I'm just 'doing it' and that's working for me (but generally trying to stick to chapters.)

On 546 now, feels strange to be posting in one of these milestone threads, I feel like I've not done enough to be here. I felt like I'd never be able to post in one of them, haha.

Yeah it never feels like enough and that's what pushes me forward. "Do i really belong to the group of people that have made it this far?!" was my thoughts too. But trust me you belong. You put in the time and Congrats. Keep moving on and I'll see you in the finished thread later this year.

Just hit 500 now. Still getting a 80-90% retention rate in my reviews so pretty happy with that.
