So, as I was recently disappointed to see that there's no organized Pathfinder society group in Japan, I was wondering. Is DnD a thing in Japan? Do they have organized play at all, or should I just start stalking expats till I find one with dice in their pockets?
(I'd start my own group, but with my rather caveman Japanese I don't think I could pull off creating a fantasy world)

I don't know about playing per say, but I do know that there is a book genre that just records peopls conversations during games. This leads me to believe that it does exist.

Also check out Mixi for TRPG groups, you might be able to find something. But the comments above are probably a good start.
I tried some Sword World RPG when I studied abroad here and found the process very difficult with not good Japanese. Make sure you do some research on common playing terms, weapons/armour /etc. or you'll be lost especially since some of the words are not common. If they'll let you play, I'd recommend watching a campaign and noting stuff you don't know about and looking it up.
