Vocabulary and Kanji question

#1
Hello, here are some background information about me. I started studying Japanese early august with learning the kana's and from Japanese pod (pretty nice site). Now I bought Genki and want to finish it in a few weeks (many chapters are pretty easy for me though, thanks to Japanesepod 101 and Anime)

But I have a question. At the moment I'm learning only the vocabs from Japanese to German. I never really learned kanji, but I want to start with it, because I want to give Manga's a try next year.

Now my question is when I learned the Kanji for my vocabulary should I just edit the card and replace the kana writing with Kanji in Anki or make an new deck for reviewing Kanji only? (But I think that I would end up in a lot of reviews)

And just a quick question: Do you also have trouble with some vocabulary? For me there are a few that really cause problems (I learn them the whole day, and then I know them for like 4-5 days, and forgetting them again..)

Finish Genki 1 than you can start mangas if you want. It won't be friendly though. If you want to be safe skim through many parts of Tae Kims for grammar, than go into manga so you can spot when you see a grammar point you don't understand so you can look it up online.

For anki I would put the kanji in the front of the card. Kana and meaning on the back. Good luck!

If you are not already doing rtk to learn the kanji, you may want to consider doing that first. Once you have learned the kanji, xanpakuto's cards make sense(kanji on front, kana and meaning on back). If you find that too difficult, you could add the kana on the front as a hint field, or do as I do and make your hints a light gray color and small so you don't notice it unless you need the hint.
