I'm almost quarter-way through RTK/Maniette but I've recently been experimenting with other methods since the lack of vocabulary kinda turns me down.

So far, the best solution I've found is looking up each new RTK kanji on Jisho and learn most useful words with kanjis I already know. So I've been thinking about using programming to create a RTK-ordered vocabulary ebook and Anki deck that would automate all the search-and-select hassle and work offline.

So I'd like to ask:
- does anything like this already exist?
- do you think it's a good method? Would learning vocabulary along with RTK be a significant burden or would actually it help remembering kanjis?

Once you are doing this you aren't really studying Heisig anymore. That and the most simplest characters in the beginning of Heisig may often be used with less common words, where for someone new to the language they probably don't need to be learning yet.

You can learn vocabulary as you progress through RTK. But learn through a word frequency list, not by RTK order.

2. I think so.
3. I don't think it would be a burden. It would help you associate kanji with common words.

Nukemarine's guide suggests learning rtk in ~500 character batches, and learning words simultaneously.

Ja-min suggests, "As you learn kanji, periodically select batches of “mature” or well-learned kanji [to enter into Kanji Word Association Tool]. "

The Kanji Word Association Tool converts a .txt file of the kanji you've already learned into a word list.

JALUP uses a more straightforward approach. While learning RTK, add ~1000 sentences. (Of course, this isn't really relevant)

Thanks for links and feedback! The Kanji Word Association Tool seems even better than lists!

@NightSky yes, I totally understand many early kanjis (often used as components) are pretty uncommon but I think with some filtering it can be worth it.
