vista users - reverting to JIS90 (fixing your characters)

#1
Obviously if you've upgraded to windows vista like I have you notice a substantial difference mostly in your non-jouyou kanji compared to what shows up in RTK3 (just finished RTK3 today myself. Used this site just for an easy type-in search, I personally used supermemo. Congratulations, me!). Also the 'crossing' character in RTK1 which you might see as having an extra stroke in the road primitive.

Many japanese (and us japanese learners as well) are obviously not totally happy with this with the new standard, so microsoft released a fix to revert from the new JIS2004 standard back to JIS90:

http://www.microsoft.com/japan/windows/p...fault.mspx

the direct links for the fixes are as follows:

http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=82596 for 32bit vista, and
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=82597 for 64bit vista.

On the bright side however, it's a good way to discover these potential variations, so the choice is yours.

Thanks for the link!
I've installed the fonts and now I can see the characters the way they are in the book.
