I finished RTK1 in about four months. Three months on and I still seem to get about 70 reviews a day. I don't use Anki, just the system on the website. Can anyone tell me what kind of progress I can expect to make getting the reviews down further over the next few months?

70 a day seems about right for such a short completion time on RTK. Rough estimate, assuming you answer Yes on most cards, is that it would take another 2 months to get down to 30 cards a day (a very rough estimate).

Picking "Easy" instead of "Yes" will reduce the load over time for those that you find really simple (or that you are frequently using in your vocab/reading).

Keep in mind the due cards are really just a priority system. Meaning, while SRS'es are based on research (forgetting curve, repetition, short/long term retention..) they are at best making predictions. The SRS can't say with certainty that x or y data will be forgotten on any given date, especially with all the other input/exposure you have outside of reviewing the cards.

When you review due cards (orange cards), they are actually sorted in groups based on their due date, which the most "ripe" cards coming first. And then they are randomized in between each group.

What this means is you can set your self a daily limit, of say 30, and you will always get the most important cards first. For example if 30 cards expired three days ago. And 30 cards expired yesterday. And today you decide to do only 30 instead of 60, you won't review yesterday's cards, you will be given the cards from 2 days ago.

This is assuming you pick the "due cards" orange button. I recommend not to click the piles in the graph (except the blue and red ones) and do not confuse the left most orange piles as the most urgent ones! Due dates and review intervals are not the same thing, a card with a short interval will nearly always be less urgent to review than one with a long interval that wasn't seen in months.
