I'm 75% done with RTK1(2200) and now I'm looking at RTK3. There are almost no kanjis there that I can recognize. Are there any common kanjis that appear in the 3rd volume and are worth to learn? I'm looking for a lite version of RTK3 if there is such a list.

JALUP RTK Mod (also contains a slightly lite version of pre-6th-edition RTK1).

Those are all relatively rare kanji.

My position has always been that 2000 kanji is way past the number where you no longer need to be learning kanji from an arbitrary list, but should be learning them from what you're interested in reading. If you enjoy RTK then it won't harm you to do RTK 3 (as long as you're not doing it *instead* of studying Japanese), but by the time you finish RTK 1 you should be able to learn new kanji on your own. If not, you missed one of the main points of the book.

Thanks. I wrote a script to count the number of Kanjis on this list. Out of 462 kanjis on this list. 51 of them are in RTK1, 330 in RTK3, 39 in unofficial RTK4 and 42 unique characters.

You are right. I guess I'll just add about 10-20 kanjis that I can recognize from this list and maybe come back to RTK 3 in new few years or so. I'll just continue adding new ones to much deck when I seen then xD.
