RTK2 + RTK3 Available Now from UhPress

#1
The new editions of RTK2+3 are now available from University of Hawaii Press.

RTK2 is priced at $25USD and is cross binded stitched.
RTK3 is priced at $30USD and is glue binded as RTK1 5th.

International shipping is quite slow, I've put in my order for RTK2 and expected time is 2-4 weeks.

Volume 3 is glue binded? So does that mean that it will potentially fall apart like those versions of Volume 1 that are glue binded?

Yes, but they did say they will switch to stitch binding once the current batch of glue binded ones have sold, I would NOT buy the glue binded version they are horribly made, my old copy of RTK1 5th Edition is terrible.

This is probably a dumb question but does anybody know if they have run out? IE have you seen stitch binded versions in stores or if you bought one was it glue to stitch binded? Thanks.

I got my copy of RTK Vol.2 from Amazon UK yesterday and it was just like volume one; glue bound with that cheap easy-peel laminate cover. Hold off until it gets fixed. I really can't think of any book I have owned which has been constructed so poorly .

FloatingWeed, I also got my RTK2 but i got mine direct from UhPress and it is an improvement binding wise over the first if only I had a decent camera I'd show you the binding, but it still has the shoddy laminated cover that just won't seem to lay flat.

EDIT: Also the book is ever so slightly shorter than RTK1 I can't imagine why this is.

My copy of RTK 2 arrived this morning, and there seems to have been a problem with the ink upon printing. Pages 280-1, 284-5, 288-9, 292-3, 296-7, 300-301 and 304-5 are virtually impossible to read (it looks identical to when something is printed with insufficient ink). The rest of the book looks fine though.

Is anyone else's copy like this?

Ignosco email them, they should send you a replacement. If you explain your situation I'm more than sure they'll help.

2964...doesn't have a kanji? Lol. It's in the index but still, kinda funny.

Just got my RTK3 yesterday. Wow, no Kanji on 2964! Well spotted Revenantkioku!

I should correct my post above as I've since realised that my RTK2 was indeed stitched and not glue bound - but the cheap covers are still present on all 3 volumes and overall I still think that the treatment of these books is shocking.

Nevertheless... It's great to finally have printed copies of all three books after such a long time waiting for reprints... and gasping at the insane prices for older copies on ebay and amazon marketplace.

Thanks - everything's sorted now (the purchase was from amazon and they were very quick to help). I just hope no-one else's copy has this error in it.

Has anybody seen if they are selling the stitch bound and not glue bound volume 3 yet? I'm itching to order it but not if it's going to fall apart.

I just barely ordered RTK 2 last week and it's still glue bound. Not sure if that helps since it's a different book, but, oh well.

Does anyone know why they switched to this publisher? It sounds like they can't do anything right! Meanwhile, forty million years from now, alien anthropologists will be digging up my indestructible fourth edition copy of RTK1, because the Japanese know how to put together a book.

You should have seen this Shadowrun Third Edition RPG rulebook I bought. It didn't have a peely laminated cover, but it was glue bound and it fell apart the very next day. So I returned it and exchanged it for a new one... and that one also fell apart immediately. At that point I gave up and put the pages in a three-ring binder, which I promptly never used. Excuse me... if the book is going to fall apart, what's the point of printing it??

I'm glad the Fourth Edition, at least the printing I have, is hardcover with a decent binding. I still never use it, but that's just 'cause I have nobody to play with. ^^;

Yeah, the SR3 books had a bit of a... "reputation". Mine's still going strong, but I have no idea why that should be; maybe because mine was part of the FASA print run?
