Me too, it's a difficult character.
If that can comfort you, in calligraphy the hiragana can be just as challenging as the kanji.

After well more than one year I still can't manage to make the "piled up kanji" look good. I'm talking about, for example, 驚, 警, 誉, 賞 (these are the ones I remember now).
I'd like to confine them inside a square like all the other kanji, but they look like badly prepared cheeseburgers...
