Hi, I am looking for some people interested in exchanging Japanese and English with a group of really nice Japanese folks from the town I work. This will be through voice/video/Skype. These are adults who aren't very techno saavy and have varying English levels. Some of them are so-so and some of them are pretty advanced.
I would like to match one of my friends according to their and your language levels. For example, if your Japanese is intermediate-advanced, you can be matched with a speaker whose English level is low. If your Japanese is beginner-intermediate, you can be matched with someone whose English level is high. That way, if there’s a language issue, there’s a good chance one person can support the other.
I’ve found that the most successful and productive online conversations happen when there is a clear agreement that both parties will speak soley in one language with the other person, then switch turns. For example 20 min. in Japanese, 20 min. in English, then if you want to keep talking in whatever language, do as you wish. There is no commitment. You can email the other later if you want to continue doing this weekly, bi-weekly, etc.
Although I teach this group as a side job, this is something extra I want to do for them, so I’m not doing this for money. If you’re interested, please send me an email with:
Your name (and age, if you don’t mind)
Country of residence
Comments on your Japanese level or ability
Let me know if you'd like a half English and half Japanese exchange, OR you just want to talk in English to a Japanese person
And add any preferences in an exchange partner
I may contact you and can set up some basic guidelines to help both parties get what they want. Hope to hear from you soon!
