I'm completely lost. I think I have forgotten everything about socialization since I came to Japan. My time = work + studying Japanese, and that is the all of it. How am I supposed to make friends in Japan? How do you get a girlfriend in Japan?

As hard as it may be, force yourself to leave the house and go join something - a club, friendship group, whatever. Fairly straightforward.

If you could enroll into a Japanese high school as a, "28 year old gaijin" I would imagine that you could make lots of friends. Please keep up informed on your progress.
