Vice documentaries can be interesting but sometimes the reporters are pretty damn annoying and throw in lot's of gratuitous profanity in order to be 'hip' or something.

Very interesting, though I can't understand enough to comment on it...
Speaking of documentaries, does anyone know of some good ones about any of the sciences or history (if possible, historical advances in technology and the principals behind them, though that might be too specific)? They're some of my favorite things to watch in English, so I've been wanting to find some in Japanese. I don't even care that I won't understand most of it, since that's the kind of stuff I can watch over and over again.

I'm not sure if I missed something but, they mention the animal lover as living alone in the town and why, but not much about the farmer. They also fail to mention anything about the current whereabouts of their families =/.

Heh, 猫に小判...
Zgarbas, indeed, I was curious about the families as well. Still, hearing these two voices is incredible.
If you don't find this interesting, I have to assume it must be because you don't understand it well. The man taking care of the animals is a wealth of knowledge and of great Japanese, as well.
And sometimes Vice documentaries are bad and the interviewer is annoying, sure, but this is not one of those times, so... ?

Holy shit that was amazing. Thanks for sharing -- I just started reading Vice in Japanese a few weeks back and it's quickly becoming a favorite source for free reading on the web and media. ++good.
