Kyoto meetup! :)

#1
Instead of derailing the "Do you ever feel bad that... (方言 discussion)" thread further, I figured I could just start a new thread Smile
Anyway, there are several members on here living in Kyoto, so wouldn't it be fun with a get-together? I'm thinking beer! But if you don't drink, no problem! Smile
Just throwing out some dates - I'm free Monday - Wednesday next week (11th - 13th), so if we could fix something on one of those days, that would've been cool Smile

Even though I'm starting this thread, I gotta say - I really do NOT know Kyoto, so it would be hot if someone in the know (Tzadeck anyone??) could recommend a good place (bar / izakaya).

Looking forward to see you guys! Everyone's invited! Big Grin

Hey! Yeah, I'm down with this idea.

I'm busy Monday, but I could do Tuesday or Wednesday. Tuesday is a bit better for me just because I work later on Wednesdays usually.

And yeah, I know Kyoto pretty well so I could recommend some places. Best to get an idea of how many we have first I think.

I'm busy on Wednesday, but Tuesday is okay, as long as it's from 18:00 or later. Smile

Cool, let's go with Tuesday then Smile
Is 19:00 a good time to start?
I live north of Kyoto Uni, but anywhere around Sanjo / Shijo / central Kyoto is fine with me!

It would be nice if it would be in a walking distance from Kawaramachi eki, but if something a lot better is a little further, I can live with it. Smile

Tuesday at 7 is fine with me.

Yeah, we could meet somewhere in the Sanjo/Shijo/Kawaramachi area. Since we'll be a pretty small group we can talk about what kind of restaurant/bar we want and head there. No need for reservations or anything. Since it's 7 I assume we'll be eating too?

Maybe we can meet at Sanjo-Keihan Station in front of the subway ticket gates? It's simple because there is only one subway gate. Kawaramachi Station is a bit more difficult for meeting people who you don't know since there are more people and a lot of different ticket gates and exits.

Also, of course, if anyone else wants in let us know!

No problem! Smile

One thing though, I just realized that I double booked this day >_<
I'm going to an onsen with some friends during the day but I don't think we'll be there longer than 5-6. However, if I run a bit late it would've been nice to have an e-mail or something to contact you guys. I'll send you guys an e-mail with my contact info.
Most likely there won't be any problems, but I just wanted to let you guys know to be on the safe side! Sorry!

I'm an hour and a half from Kawaramachi and work Mon-Fri but if this ever happens on a weekend I could show up. 8)

I'd like to join in if I'm welcome. Anywhere along shijo is the most convenient for me, but sanjo is fine too.

Okay, see everyone at the Sanjo-Keihan Subway ticket gates at 7:00! Anyway we can let other people know it's us? Haha. I'm blonde, at any rate, so that helps.

If anyone else is going to be late or anything you can pm us and we can get in touch. I have an iPhone so I can check my e-mail and this website easily if anything comes up.

Hey folks,
There's a high likelihood I won't be able to make it today. Something urgent has come up at work. I really wanted to go, but if I don't make it, don't wait around for me. Have a great time, and I hope there will be another meetup before too long.

Kyoto meetup was a success! The four of us went to an izakaya and had a lot of fun.

I didn't take any pictures, but if I remember correctly someone took a picture of the food or something along those lines? When we briefly talked about it we decided we didn't really want a picture of our faces on the forum. Next time maybe we'll try to catalogue at least the food and scenery better!

Anyway, I hope to do it again, especially when more people are around.
