Hi guys,

I've done a bit of an internet search, and I notice there's an RTK app for the iphone, but is there one for android? Or, is there some kind of offline version of the review portion of this site? I have some travelling to do, and I'd like to be able to review kanji while I'm sitting on the trains, but while still using the data that I have in this site, ie, my passed kanji, and what number I'm up to etc.

If anyone has some help, or suggestions, that would be great!

Reading your post it seems like you got the impression that the official application is that of this site, and unless Fabrice made one specifically for RevTK, there isn't one. The iOS app is Heisig's.

Anki, a popular SRS, is available for just about every platform and there are premade Anki decks for RTK.

Obviously since this site is a web app you can access it from any internet connected device.

The thing about anki is, I'd have to start all over again right? For example, here I've got about 1500 cards with over 5 reviews, plus some forgotten cards, and some new cards, and some cards sitting on one or two reviews... I'd kinda like any work I do to translate to this site, to avoid having to review kanji I don't need to be.

The reason I was looking for an offline type app/mode is that while travelling on a train with my laptop, I won't have an internet connection, and I can't do tethering on my phone. Sure, I can access this site on my phone, but the layout is difficult to use, and the display size is tiny... it's just a lot more hassle than I'm keen on :p

And yeah, I guess I was under the mistaken impression that the iphone app was for this site T_T
I'd seen discussions on here about developing an app, and assumed it was that one, my bad ^_^

There may be a plug-in to import your present status. I don't have the latest version of Anki, but there used to be such a plug-in for the old version called "Import progress from Koohii (see description for updates)".

Regarding the RTK app, I have it. The original app was okay, but the latest upgrade has made it useless for studying. There is no general save mode, no SRS, and most of the kanji (primitives) in lesson 37 are incorrect. Because I upgraded the RTK app, and can't go back to the original version, I had to switch to Anki a few weeks ago. There is a learning curve for Anki, but once you figure it out, it's all smooth sailing.

If it helps, I was kind of in the same boat, it took me forever to get Anki working on my phone and by the time I did, I was well over halfway though.

The thing is, I just bit the bullet and started a release of 20 a day and... it's helping. I'm getting a nice refresher course of the stuff I had long since shoved into box 6 or something here.

I advise against this, RTK is a step to be finished as soon as possible.

I'll second this. I have the official RTK app and while it may be good for reference, it is pretty much useless in every other respect.

If you want an app for iOS I would suggest KanjiBox. Its not really SRS but it is good for quick reviews on the go and a lot cheaper than Anki.

I think you might be misunderstanding what I am doing, I am using anki while continuing RTK concurrently. Pretty much I 'test' twice a day, once with older kanji on Anki and once with whatever this site kicks up at me for the review. I add in cards here and just let Anki continue with its 20 a day. Eventually I'll catch up and then either fully switch over or continue a dual situation.

No, there is an Anki 2 plugin that can import your progress from this site:
