Manga for teenage boys

#1
I would like to get some Manga as a gift for my 14 year old stepson. He doesn't know Japanese or manga, so I'd be looking for some good choices to start with (in English of course). Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Mike

Hi mspertus,

I have read several Dragonball manga in Japanese (and I know they have English counterparts available at Borders, BN, etc.) I think that they are very interesting, but there is a bit of nudity here and there so you should probably browse throught them yourself first to see if you are okay with it.

BTW, I really love the vocab excel spreadsheet you wrote. It is really fantastic.

Naruto is probably the most obvious choice here. Big Grin

Sounds like a good suggestion. I'll look at them. Thanks also for your compliment on the SW. After a long break (due to new work priorities), I am picking up development again. It's good to know there are still people interested.

Anything Shonen Jump related would probably be good, as that is designed for his demographic.

Yeah, Shonen Jump's the way for 14 year olds. It's what I was reading at that age, and I'd personally recommend One Piece and Naruto (making sure that we're talking manga and not anime... because if not, give the latter a miss).

Dragonball might be kinda outdated, but Bleach and Naruto are great suggestions. I don't like Naruto myself, but it's extremely popular...

I went with Bleach. I'll let you know how it goes.

Hikaru no Go is good if you want something that doesn't involve violence
