Core 2k and 6k Word list in word document

#1
I've been trying for a while to get a pdf or preferably a word document with a list of the core 2k and 6k words on it. Just the words, no sentences, no links to audio files, just a plain regular word list I can carry around throughout the day. I tried all the exporting options in anki and all I got was a bunch of unreadable gibberish.

I have looked all over the place online and all I can find are pdfs with the sentences or out of order lists from the current iknow website.
Why it's so hard to find a three column word list with
Kanji -> Reading -> English meaning
I can't understand. Does anyone have any links to, or way to get at such a document? I've been looking for a while and I can't seem to find anything that simple and useful.

Also I don't know if this matters but I don't know how to do any programming whats so ever so I can't do anything with pearl or python type files for example with the word list in them. I have seen such files uploaded and regretfully do not know how to get what I need from them.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you Smile

You shouldn't be getting gibberish though. Are you using excel? For future decks, try the following steps:

1) In Anki: 'Export format' should be 'Notes in plain text (*.txt)'
2) In Excel: Open the .txt file, with the 'File Origin' option of the text wizard set to '65001: Unicode (UTF-8)'.
3) Delete unnecessary columns

Is that how you're supposed to do it, thank you as well for that, I used to export it and open it with notepad to get all the weird gibberish. I can't believe I could have done this months ago when I first wanted a print out.......

Thank you both Smile
