beginning japanese student (how to enter characters into anki)

#1
i want to use anki to study kanji. however, i have no idea how to enter the japanese characters on the cards. i don't even know how to get kanji to display on a computer.

(also, i'm very new to studying kanji--just started a few days ago. i've only been studying japanese for a few months now.)

anyway, if someone could help me out, i'd really appreciate it.

I'm not going to close the topic this time however please understand that:

ADMIN: Please note that this forum is not a technical support forum for the Anki software.

All technical / troubleshooting questions should be posted on Anki's discussion board at http://groups.google.com/group/ankisrs/topics

General discussions about software as learning material are welcome in the
Learning resources forum (eg. discussing decks, review schedules, and so on).

As for your question you want to look into an IME, which depends if you're on a OS X or Windows computer:

Pretty sure there have been some good threads here. Basically you have to install "East Asian Language Support" in Windows for the fonts and enable the "input method editor" and then switch to Japanese input, then you can type in romaji and get either kana or kanji suggestions.
