I was doing really well, and then I kind of just lost focus, and weeks became months became more months, and now I have about 1000 expired cards. I feel like I can't remember any of them. Should I just fail all of them and essentially start from scratch or is there a better method? Looking for any suggestions/recommendations at all.

Whenever I let a lot of cards go like that for a long time, I just slowly go through them. I usually get a lot wrong, but at least I don't have to start over on the ones I get right.

There's a high chance relearning will go much, much quicker than when you learned it originally. So even if you must "start over" take heart that returning to your former place may not be as hellish as expected. Long term memory is a funny thing, and sometimes reassembling what's already there is all one requires. My experience with this was quitting RtK at the halfway mark for about half a year. I came back horrified that all of it was gone. Yet, lo and behold, with a single week's effort (maybe less) I knew all 1100 again as well as I had before. Have confidence you can relearn all 1000 of those cards in a couple of days with concentrated effort. :3
Best of luck.

Thanks guys. I feel a little better about it. I went through 300 or so last night and remembered about 60. Not as horrible as I expected. I want to really buckle down and learn them all this time around.
