What kind of pad do i have to use?

Heisig mentions about using pencil and pad to study the kanjis. What kind of pad is he talking about here?

He just means paper. I don't think his English is American English.

I use a regular notebook, but if you really want to go all out, you can Google and print off some kanji graph paper.

(The previous post was sarcasm btw.)

A cheap, lap-sized dry erase board works well too. If you have trouble finding this size, try the children's section.

use anki on android or ios.

Its so much more convenient than carrying a pen and paper around

it doesn't have to look pretty or thaaat proportional, you will rarely have to write unless you live in Japan. So write as fast and as ugly as you like

Writing is more important for learners to aid your memory and retention levels.
