Core 10,000 after Core 6,000?

#1
I've finished adding words for Core 6000 via iKnow! I was wondering if people found it useful to go through the rest that are provided in Core 10,000 (via Japanese Sensei app, etc.)? I'm working on grammar now and am planning to use Rikaisama to add words from reading some light novels but should I also go through the additional ~4000 (I know in actuality it's a bit less) words via SRS? There is also Kanji in Context (KIC) which provides additional words but I'm not sure that if I started with Core 6,000 whether it would be wise to look at that before finishing the 10,000 words.

Any thoughts on whether it is worth doing the additional pre-defined words or should I only add words that I find in real texts via Rikaisama?

There is a lot of repetition in the Core10k deck. Most of the words in the deck are simply adding kanji to words that originally appeared with hiragana. Plus some of the sentences in the deck are kind of weird, according to Japanese that I have had read some. With Core6k you should be able to easily tackle easier light novels and shouldn't have any problem with KIC.

In total, there are maybe 1700-2000 actual new words in the core10k. I feel you might be better served reading actual material now and adding what you encounter, but thats up to you.

Thanks for the advice. Where does Kanji in Context fit in then? Are there enough new words there to be worth tackling it more so than Core 10k?
