Just noticed this on a japanese tatoo facebook page

I want to do my fact checking just in case I am wrong, but I came across this today: http://i.imgur.com/tW9HU.jpg

Above the picture it says manji, now correct me if I'm wrong but manji is flat and pointing the other way, isn't this obviously the swastika? I did google this and it supported what I was thinking but wanna check.

And really shouldn't the Japanese be pretty damn knowledgeable on what the buddist symbol looks like?

Oh I hope I'm wrong but I also really want to tell them if I am right, mostly for fun value. I think I might be a bastard

Yeah its a stupid post, sorry!

Yeah, that's a nazi swastika.
Welp. Don't wanna be that guy when he takes off his shirt in public.

It seems like both exist, the right-facing one being more common though. The left-facing one is called 逆卍 (reverse manji) or 右卍 (left manji) and it isn't in the IME list when you write "manji", (卍 is) It is however listed as a CJK character... and it appears when trying "wanji" on Google's Chinese IME lol. Anyway, tattoo + conscious effort to get the reverse one = highly suspicious XD

What does it say under the swastika?

On a side note: it's a shame about the whole Nazi Germany era effectively ruining what it still and has been for a hell of a lot longer than Hitler's reign, a simple Buddhist icon.

I have no idea what it say underneath, even with the close up: http://i.imgur.com/U9cQh.jpg

Buddhist swastikas can face either direction, but they are almost always flat, not stood on a point like that one. That's a nazi symbol right there.

There are antisemitic Japanese, as strange is that is considering that there are so few Jewish people in Japan. Though, hard to tell what's going on with this guy. The design font, and location mimic skinhead tattoos, but this guy might be too dumb to get all the connotations of that. He might have just seen this type of tattoo in a picture and thought it looked cool.

Yeah it's a pity because it's kind of a cool symbol. Also it's kind of funny to think that Hitler has completely ruined a certain style of mustache.

I can forgive the senseless destruction of religious iconography, but the fact that a man cannot don a fine short and center mustache anymore is truly disturbing.

It looks to me like it says "baby Arab" which would tend to support antisemitic imagery...

Vladimir Nabokov once commented that he is solely responsible for the fact that nobody names their child Lolita anymore. And it's true.
