I have a Sony PRS-T1 eReader and I want to put a PDF file in it that has Japanese characters. Unfortunately, my eReader can't recognize the Japanese fonts in the PDF file.
If anyone has a solution, I would be grateful for any advice.
Thanks!

I also have Sony PRS-T1 eReader and I have no problems with Japanese fonts with either text files or PDF files.
In principle you shouldn’t have any problems with PDFs (for example, my smartphone, despite the fact that there are no Japanese fonts on it, has no problems with displaying the same PDFs as my e-reader), so your problem is a bit odd.
Try to create your own PDF with some Japanese text in it (you can you MS Office or LibreOffice for that) and see what this file will look like.

Inny,
Thanks for your reply. My eReader can also read Japanese fonts, in general. I must have found a PDF with some sort of unique formatting. I tried to use Calibre to fix the problem, but that wasn't successful. I will try to work on it a bit more. If that doesn't work, I'll just resort to old fashioned printed paper.
Thanks!

You have to embed a font inside the PDF.
That's probably what the problem is.
The PDF file doesn't have any embedded fonts, so it is expecting
your system to have a certain font, but it doesn't. That's why embedding
fonts directly into a PDF is useful. It ensures that everyone will have
the necessary fonts. The disadvantage is that it increases the size of the file.
