Nice, looks like the second example is the way to go with a space preceding any kanji with furigana. It looks like changes will have to be manually made. I'll go ahead and fix my portion.

If we do:
search
"] "
replace with
"]"
..would that cause any problems?

It might mess up things like 吉田[よしだ] 先生[せんせい], but even then the space in front of 吉田 will probably keep the furigana from creeping too far forward. It will probably be OK on the whole.

Edit: Besides, even if it wouldn't render well (but it seems it does), it would take a lot less to add spaces between consecutive but separate kanji, than removing all the existing spaces but those, as they are present in every sentence.

To get rid of the extra spaces, I'm going to use Anki to regenerate readings. There will still be some furigana errors, but it'll fix the spacing issues and make the overall editing process much smoother.
EDIT:
I've begun working on it btw. Using Anki to redo readings worked well. I imported to Anki and discarded original reading and then bulk added reading through the browser. I'll paste it back into the Google sheet when finished. I'm working in Excel just because I'm more familiar with it. I'll probably finish sometime tomorrow.
EDIT EDIT:
I'm holding off on working on this further until interest in this project returns.

I'm going to have to give up the 100 I took - I'm extremely sorry, but some school-related research projects are taking up the majority of my time.
Sorry guys.

OK. I have my 100 completed now.
I did them in an excel sheet coz I still don't have editing privileges in the document.
As soon as thedoc updates my editing privileges again (this time with my *gmail* account), I'll paste in my edited sentences.
As far as the changes:
* one line was left out (so I did 101/101 lines)
* 'boku' changed back to original 'watashi'
* added (particle) where the original indicated a particle that can be used or omitted
* corrected a few transcription errors
and of course I bolded the grammar points.
Cheers!

I was looking at using the existing deck, but would rather use a fixed deck. I am happy to help this project so I can use the deck myself

Wouldn't be awesome to have the dictionaries integrated to OSX default Dictionary app?
I found this article online about how to actually create dictionaries.

I know, crazy.

The project is progressing, most people prefer to do the work offline because they find excel easier to use, that's why it seems like it's not going forward.
Sorry for the lack of updates, I have 4 university tests in a few days and I've been swamped.
I'll get back to it in a short while.
Btw, yes, we could use more people to finish it off.

Chadokoro_K, you should have editing privileges, email me if you still can't edit the file.

Crap, I thought I had already updated the document with my edited sentences.
Sorry, an emergency came up just when gave me editing privileges. I meant to post my edits before I took off.
They are in the document now.

Hyperborea Wrote:I've gone though some of the sentences so far (after a long unwanted detour due to Anki 2) and I'm seeing some major differences. I wonder if those are just a bad block from the deck or if the differences are due to the version of my copy of the book. I've got the 27th printing of the 1st edition from April 1997.Hmm, my edition is even older (First Ed 4th Printing April 1987) and my sentence block matched up with the book's.
Well I did have to add in one sentence that had been skipped (so I have 101/100 sentences) but that looks like it also happened in other people's blocks.
EDIT: I also had all of the sentences marked in green in my even older edition and none of the ones marked in red. I suppose a newer edition could have swapped out the green ones for the red ones.
It would definitely be good if someone with a newer edition also took a look.
