Best way to start a vlog?

#1
I got a new webcam a few weeks ago and was wondering what to do with it since I got tired of streaming on FC2. Perhaps a vlog on YouTube is a decent way to meet some new Japanese people (if they happen to come across your video), but more importantly to work on Japanese skills by creating and editing a script and then making that into a decent viewing experience and working on speaking in the process.

I must say I don't think I've ever had a blog of any sort since it's hard for me to focus on a topic that is interesting and comprehensive enough for people to actually want to listen to. Perhaps it's because my life is a bit less exciting than most but I'm sure there are some sort of talking points I can bring out. Any advice or tips on where to begin? Also what programs are good to use to make such a video (I have a Windows, not a Mac).

You used to stream on FC2 too?!
All the broadcasters I used to know have disappeared but I was pretty active there several months ago.

I also just started a Vlog thingo on Youtube. I have no idea what I'm doing. I'm using a not-very-good camera/my built-in webcam and iMovie on my mac. That's it for now!
Just an excuse to spout nonsense and put it on the internet..! I've had a channel for years but not done a proper blog before. We'll see how this goes. I just started with a self-intro. Probably boring but.. oh well? -- Just start where you feel comfortable!

Also I don't think life being boring is a huge problem. Just do something interesting for the sake of video! (Maybe that will lead to a more interesting life..!?)

Edit: PS- here's the video I made:

I haven't had time to subtitle it in English yet..!><

Thanks, nice to see someone in the same boat. Also looked at your other videos and found out we both have gone to the Kobe illumination event. Pretty amazing stuff, too bad I only have pictures and not video like you do. It's hard for me to start maybe because I'm so demotivated currently but I hope I can get around to it. Any suggestions for programs in the situation I don't have a Mac?

Yeah I went to Kobe University. Good place. Kobe Luminarie is great! I'm looking forward to it again (Coming soon wooo!).
I'm pretty low on motivation at the moment too. And the kinds of videos I want to make (language learning etc.) require that I form a decent, logical argument before starting and that takes even more motivation... I suggest coffee! haha.

As for programs on Windows.. I never really editted video on windows so unfortunately I don't know any good software. >< In fact, nothing comes to mind other than the standard Windows Movie Maker which is... less than spectacular.
