CORE 2k/6k Audio to listen on Ipod?

#1
Hey guys been lurking this forum for a while without really posting. I really appreciate all the motivation that this forum and site has given meTongue probably wouldnt be able to finish rtk (twice... I left it a while so had to redo it) with out it.

any ways i've searched for just the straight audio files for Core 2k or 6k. I would like to put it on my ipod and just listen to the sentences and shadow them. I am also completing core on anki, but I feel like just having the audio files on my ipod would really help internalize this vocab. I have found from other sentences that I have shadowed, that when I hear the vocab from that sentence in a show or movie it immediately sticks out.

really sorry if this was already asked in another thread... I couldn't find anything though. I would really appreciate if someone could point me in the right direction.

thanks!

Have you listened to the Core audio? I gotta say it's some of the most boring sentences to listen to alone. Subs2SRS can extract audio in small bits from your favorite anime or drama, maybe that would be more exciting to listen to. I also believe Assimil is almost made to be shadowed.

Anyway, you specifically asked about Core 2K/6K, One of Nukemarine's threads has them. Along with the spreadsheets that tell you what audio goes with what sentence.

I'm not sure if you want both the files for the words and the sentences or just the sentences. If you want both what you can so is this:

Go to where the anki media files are stored, in your documents or where you choose to store them when you installed it. There you will see the anki files and the folders with the media files.

THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT DO NOT MOVE OR IN ANYWAY ALTER THE FILES if you do next time you try to access the deck the audio will not work (learned that the hard way).
Just right click over it and copy. Paste it where you want it to be stored, ie in a separate folder or something then drag and drop to the itunes play list.

A few tips:

have a separate playlist for each step so you can listen to the audio for the step you are on and not the whole thing all the time. It makes it easier to memorize.

Listen to it all day long, it is what I do. I know it is not the most interesting material to listen to but it will allow you to learn the words so much faster.

If you want just the sentences I don't have any way to separate them quickly from the words. all the audio files are labeled weird so there is no way to separate them unless someone wants to go through the whole thing and separate them one by one.

Good luck Smile

thanks alot for the replies guys.

I figured out the file location. One thing I had to do though to seperate the different steps was make new profiles. Other wise I wouldn't beable to tell one set of audio from another... Im sure theres a better way to do this but I don't need all the cards I just want the audio for review. maybe im wierd but I don't find it too boring Tongue

i started having this problem with vocab. I would be able to read it and know what it meant when I saw it but when I heard it I wouldn't initially be able to recognise it. this was probably because I was using a deck without the audio ( couldn't get it to work, but with anki 2 i have it now) I have lately switched the main focus of my studies on listening and speaking rather than reading and writing as a result. surpisingly it takes very little time to go through a whole "step" of audio. It takes something like 3o minutes, so after 30 minutes you basically have a quick reminder of a each vocab point!

The sound files at https://sites.google.com/site/ankinihongo/home/kore have random file names and no ID3 tags.

The files linked in this thread were renamed, but they're based on newer data from iKnow's website that doesn't always match kore.txt or most Anki decks. http://lri.me/files/core-tagged.tar contains the same files with ID3 tags for the English and Japanese translations.

There are pre-made audio lessons for the Core6000 series available in the Audio Lesson Studio thread that you may or may not be interested in.
