Japanese TV news with English subtitles

#1
Nearly every day after lunch I tend to watch Japanese news from ANN's youtube channel (TV Asahi I presume):
https://www.youtube.com/user/ANNnewsCH
Basically I just click "Play all", click the "fullscreen" mode, sit back and watch, just like I would do with any local news. The "Play all" feature shows news in decreasing chronological order, meaning I'll first hear todays news, then yesterdays, and so on. There's probably at least 1h of news coverage per day, although some events are reported multiple times.

While this is the best of what I managed to find so far, I'd also like a couple of more features (ordered by priority):
1) English subs (some stuff, especially politics isn't easy to understand, some of that I can't even guess by context).
2) Less politics - roughly 50% of ANN news are about Japanese politics, which I don't really care about.

So does anyone know of a Japanese TV news channel with English subs, that has enough content and can be watched with equal leisure like the Youtube ANN channel (I don't want to manually search or click for each different news article).

i dont get how english subs could be helpful.

you should look into news sites with japanese transcription and rikai-chan whatever you don't get
ie
http://www.fnn-news.com/

oh but this one probab requries manual stuff since u need to click on the news story to get to the individual page which has the transcription. but i think that's more productive than english subs. if anything, to get the most out of news you shouldn't be just be watching it leisurely...

perhaps the site metioned on this thread is of value to you

You miss intent, I already have good learning resources for interactive, focused learning: advanced jpod podcasts with pdf, slashdot.jp, light novels, large SRS Anki decks, etc.

What I want with TV news is something I can watch with leisure, just like I do with anime, but with a different theme and thus different vocabulary/grammar.

Anime/TV news are perfect for recognizing new words and improving your reading skills while requiring very little effort and (most importantly) are enjoyable to watch - I don't get tired from it.

So please, as the topic states, only recommend Japanese TV News resources, I don't care for other recommendations.

English subs can actually be really helpful. I passively learned a lot of Japanese watching English subbed anime even before I started seriously studying using textbooks, vocab lists and grammar guides. Because the translation is right there, you can easily learn words or phrases that are repeated often.
Right now I do a mix - I tend to watch variety shows without subs, but if I'm watching a new anime series or drama, I put the English subs on. I can then re-watch it later without the subtitles.

Give the guy a break; he's actually trying to be helpful.
As for what you're looking for, it doesn't exist. This community would be all over it if there was such a thing. Subtitles aren't made for news broadcasts like they are for Anime and Drama, because people who are interested in Japanese News can be kept up to speed from English websites
Japanese News is made for Japanese people who can either speak or read Japanese. You can get English websites that cover Japanese News in English, and you might even be able to find a few Japanese news videos with eng-subs if you look hard enough, but it's highly unlikely it will be up-to-date.
