Is there software to scan pages of kanji writing so that I can...

...copy the kanji/kana writing and paste it into another application that reads individual kanji/kana?* Thanks.

*my purpose in doing this is to take a book of Japanese readings--printed in kanji/kana--scan the pages into my computer and convert into romaji (using a website that converts into romaji which another forum member helpfully supplied the link to).

Yeah, there's plenty.

Be careful with conversions from kanji/kana to romaji. The readings of some kanji and compounds cannot be determined without the context, which the program may not be able to figure out.

The problem with your romaji idea is not that it's theoretically unsound, but that in practice there aren't enough resources to do as much as you want to do with it.
