New Kindle Paperwhite + Furigana Support

#1
Hi,
Amazon has just released the Kindle Paperwhite in a Japanese edition. I was just wondering if anyone knows how furigana works on it. Can you turn it on and off for any book, or does it show up automatically?

I don't have one, but here's an image (from Amazon Japan's page for the Kindle Paperwhite). Furigana appears next to the kanji, just like any Japanese novel.

You could always check the Japanese Kindle forums: http://www.amazon.co.jp/forum/kindle?_en...65066349_1

Furigana is provided by the publisher and there's no way to turn it off or on for a whole book if that's what you want to do.

There's a good J-J dictionary that will give you the readings of anything you touch though. There's no J-E dictionary yet.

Are these functions Japanese Paperwhite only or can I buy an European / American Paperwhite and still have the J-J dictionary and furigana? Does anyone know?

There are some directions for linking your amazon usa and amazon japan accounts.

IN case this is of interest, I couldn't find any suitable Japanese/English dictionary to use with my new Japanese Kindle Paperwhite so I went and created one myself and published it on Amazon.

If anyone is interested the ASBN for it is B00AKIUDAY

You can find it here:

http://www.amazon.co.jp/dp/B00AKIUDAY/
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00AKIUDAY/

If it is not available in your country feel free to send me a private email/message and I will see if I can get it published in your country.
