How would one transfer an epwing dictionary on a CD (kenkyusha's waei 5th) to the iphone. I have an epwing reader on my phone, and it says something about ftp transfer etc but what do i need to transfer exactly, and how might i get it off the disc?

Please bear in mind I'm not all that tech savvy : /

Can you copy the files over USB? I don't have any Apple devices, so I don't know if this is possible, but with my Android phone, I just copied the files over USB to the phone's SD card.

I created a folder on the SD card called "dicts". Inside that I have "研究社新和英大辞典・第５版", "研究社新英和大辞典・第６版", "広辞苑", etc.

Inside "研究社新和英大辞典・第５版", for example, I have a "wadai5" folder and a "win" folder - these should be in the root directory of the CD. So just create a "dicts" folder, then a separate folder inside that for each dictionary you want. And in there, copy and paste all the files from the root directory of the CD.

Another possibility might be dropbox. I often use this to move files from computer to android phone. However, as I don't have an iphone I am not sure ... Anyway, if you have dropbox on your iphone and on your computer, perhaps you can copy it from your CD to dropbox on your computer, and then, after everything syncs up, go to your iphone and export (download) it to your phone's memory. Depending on the reader you use on the iPhone, you can transfer either through ftp (slow but easy to understand) or through USB (fast but can be confusing). iFunBox is a lot more convenient than iTunes for copying multiple files through USB.
Find the CATALOGS file on your CD, and copy that, as well as all contents of all sub-directories onto a new directory on your iPhone. Depending on the dictionary you may have MOVIE directories (containing movies), or files called HONMONG (images), HOMNOMS (sound clips). You don't have to copy these files if space on your iPhone is at a premium.
You can save a ton of space by running your data through ebzip/ebshrink (ebshrink is included in the EBWin package) before copying it on the phone.
You can practice installing dictionaries by grabbing the EPWING version of EDICT from here: http://www.hloeffler.info/epwing/ . It has fewer and smaller files than your real data, so it's faster to experiment with and it's easier to understand what goes where.
