Btw, I the deck contains words from the second book as well (maybe a fourth of it or so.) I don't know if its a problem or not. Anyway, its 1500 words in all but there are repeats. Anki 2 doesn't have an easy way to fix those.
Not sure how you ended up with duplicates? Anki 2 has an option on import either to update cards that already exist, or to exclude them from import.

I don't exactly know how the duplicates got in there. I imported them from an Anki 1 deck originally (that's how rikaisama saves it) but I did so in pieces. For example, the first 500 then the second and so on as I got through the book. I know there's a duplicate search feature, which turns up several hundred hits, but I haven't got to actually deleting them as I would have to do it manually (right?).

You can upload it to a site like depositfiles.com and give us the link. I'll send you my e-mail address so if you have problems, you can just e-mail it to me and I'll do it. Or if you have google docs set up, you could load it there and make it public.

Right, you have to choose which one to keep. And I think you're right, Anki 1 didn't necessarily make sure a field was unique unless you selected it to be unique. Anki 2 forces the first field of your decks to act as a primary key, and prevents duplicate expressions.

Thanks for the help, PotbellyPig. Here's the link: http://depositfiles.com/files/l7wkwl02p

I had some sound files made through GoogleTTS, so just ignore the sound field. Otherwise, the fields are just kanji, reading, definition. Let me know if there are any problems...
