TV shows with japanese subtitle, does it exist? (not Drama)

#1
Hi over there, being a long while since I'm trying to look for some real stuff for improving my japanese, but never mind still I can't find japanese Shows with japanese subtitles that could be used with sub2srs.

Otherwise I'd like any other thing than mangas/anime/drama to use with sub2srs, I started reading news from http://www3.nhk.or.jp/news/easy/ but yet having for exemple to jump from a minute to another to hear a word looks very annoying.

Well, you are mostly stuck with either anime or dramas, because those are the main types of shows that would have an actual storyline. Of course there are movies too, but finding ones with subtitles might be hit or miss.

Stuff like variety shows usually has a good chunk of the dialogue subtitled but not all of it. Clips from those can be easily found on youtube.

But anyways anime subs are at http://kitsunekko.net/
and drama subs at http://d-addicts.com

It's a database of DVDs that come with Japanese subtitles, basically.

Anime and drama is really your best bet though because people go to a fair amount of effort to make Japanese subtitles available for the purpose of language learning and translation. Who's going to do that with the news or whatever?

If you like Smap x Smap then on D-Addicts the user zdzdz typically uploads his episodes with the Japanese subs.

Are you referring to not being able to find Japanese subtitles for anything you would like to watch? Or are you referring to not being able to find subtitles that are well timed for subs2srs usage?

If the former, I'd say stick to what is readily available, because your options are pretty slim outside of Anime and JDrama. Or just learn to watch stuff raw.

If your referring to the timing not matched well for subs2srs use, then your going to have to learn to use a program like AegiSub to re-time and split the subs for proper flashcards.

Thanks for your links gotta explore them a little while.

Aikynaro:
You are right about the news thing, but the watching news was only one idea among others to replace drama/anime and it seems finding replacement for those is difficult.

TheVinster:
Thanks for the tips : D it's exactly the what I'm looking for, it's already a good start point.

Daichi:
The option of just getting used to see stuff raw was in my mind too,but the problem is as a beginner I can't grasp a lot of words and my understanding is narrowed on guessing from the context and from understanding one or two words.Maybe some tips to clear out this problem?

Well in other words I was just wondering if there are people who without getting themselves into anime/drama and could get to a good level of japanese.Especially when talking about listening skills.
At a beginner stage I wonder also if conversation through skype could be as fast as being immersed into a japanese show.
Talking at this level, next month I could get a translation job or at least as an internships wich would be great I think .

So lastly any other options behind anime/drama imaginary show ?Any advise for what to focus on before the job interview?

There are a lot of other audio resources with accompanying transcripts. I've used these stories in conjunction with watching アニメ and ドラマ, and it's helped a lot:

There's also Nippon VoiceBlog, 百物語, and a few others. Look in buonaparte's long list of resources and you'll find a bunch of links to downloadable Japanese content with accompanying Japanese language transcripts.

Beyond that, learn a lot of vocab, and listen to raw material along with transcripted material. The raw material becomes more comprehensible as your vocab and grammar knowledge increase, and as you train your ear to recognize Japanese.

Honestly, in 2012, you can find a fuckton of japanese subtitles for many japanese dramas and animes on the links people gave you, and this is more than enough to have a very good level in japanese. 4 years ago, we didn't have all those japanese subtitles, and it was much more difficult for learners. If you want to watch japanese news, yeah some news shows are broadcasted with japanese subtitles in Japan too, but it is very difficult to find those raws and it's not like everyone wants them. I can understand that anime can be boring for some people, but japanese dramas are at the same level as japanese news and it's much more interesting to watch.

Thanks fo the link.I knew the existence of that buonaparte's post tough I had like a feelings no one were using them Thinking : People having plenty of Drama to watch ,why should they care about some podcasts.

Yes I think that having a huge amount of vocabulary really helps I think I should take care of this point as I spent too much time on Kanji without really getting into real stuff.
Btw I wander if a Template for listening could help here, I started doing it tough.

I know it's a bit odd but anyway I wrote the topic with the wish of finding any good replacement to anime/drama ^^ , by now I have a step to go on forth at least.
talking about 4 years ago hum I wonder how you would improve your listening skills.

resuming the advices : more vocabulary / more stuff with transcripts / learn to watch stuff raw.
thanks

It's very newscast-centric, so podcasts, etc might be more fun, but I really like G.L.O.S.S. If you search for Japanese stuff, click on a result, and then click on "Source", you get a text with audio, and translation.
