Hi guys,
I was wondering how you guys make J-J Sentence Cards? AJATT Made a good example pasted below, but I dont know how to use correct Japanese to translate the cards. Vocabulary cards are easy copy paste from goo.ne.jp or sanseido, but for sentences how do you guys do them?
Here is his example:
QUESTION (FRONT):
お前は何者だ?
ANSWER (BACK):
お・まえ は(わ) なに・もの だ
おまえ【御前】同等または、目下の相手をゾンザイに、また親愛の情を込めて呼ぶ語。
現代では、多く、男が使う。対等の親しい関係では「おれ」に対し「お前」と言う。
なにもの【何者】姓名・身分などの分からない者を指していう語。どういう人。だれ。何人(ナニビト)。「昨日の君の相手は何者かね」。
めした【目下】地位または年齢が自分より下であること。また、その人。

to me it seems J-J cards are only possible once your Japanese is at such a level that doing sentences becomes tedious and doing individal vocab is a better way to go. granted, I'm just guessing, as I'm only at 4000ish sentences right now, and i definately need J-E for the moment.

I think it really comes down to knowing a lot of vocab/context. Plus it really comes down to getting more used to japanese via immersion, reading, grammar, etc. Don't worry about monolingual. Take it slowly with basic words/sentences. And you'll eventually be able to get it.

Javizy,
Do you know how this could be done with 大辞泉? I tried using the example that was in the anki information section for lookup but I couldn't get it working. I'm guessing that each app has a different url scheme but I can't find it for 大辞泉. Do you have any suggestions?

I've noticed J-J get's easier as you are farther into Japanese. I don't have any trouble understanding J-J now but when I Started/made the switch. It was hard, really hard. You'll notice that you can understand Japanese on it's own, without an English translation with it.

Yea, I agree. When I was first doing core 2000, J-J was really hard and seemed like too much work but now I always have to get the J definition. I find that having the J definition helps me remember the word better as it usually provides more details or maybe it just forces me to really think about as opposed to one word english translation.
If anyone knows how to setup the url scheme to use daijisen in anki mbile, please let me know!
