Also known as 擬音語（ぎおんご）. I found them listed with example sentences and translations. Me thinks I'll be mining this after JLPT study!

I like them cos I think they're different to any other languages onomatopoeia but at the same time they're really hard to grasp.

I think a deck of them would be nice.

擬態語 and 擬音語 are difficult. Some seem to have lots of possible variations but in other cases similar ones have completely different meanings. And there are so many of them!

I have been using this for a while now and its great. Whenever I run across a new giongo, I look it up in the deck and unspendend it. I highly reccomended it cause I cant beleive how many years I learned japanese without breaking into giongo.....

the above link might not be the link I was thinking of but somewhere, someone has a great deck of Nihongo Gitaigo Jiten by Gomi Taro, which has drawings to illistrate the the giongo-I think that is a excellent way to study it, cause giongo basically has no visual or audio clues to let you guess the meaning (no kanji and the words are "random" for the most part). An image really lets you connect with it and is easy to learn.

Perhapse someone else will chime in her with more details of the book and deck....

It's an excellent book containing all the words + multiple example sentence + silly pictures + an explanation of the 擬音語 or 擬態語 in both Japanese and English.
