The video deals with correcting timing, but it doesn't tell you how to split the subtitles.
In either AegisSub (which I use for .ass) or Subtitle Edit (which I use for .srt) it's easy cut/paste lines or group of lines. Like, remove the unwanted lines, reset the time for all lines by - 24/48/etc, save as, and you're good to go.
