I just used VNR for the furigana (I recall its furiganizer being somewhat more accurate than MeCab). AGTH+TA was better when I was starting out and needed to look up almost every word (eyes-only dictionary lookups!), but in the end the 研究社和英大辞典 is just a far superior dictionary (with entries far too large for anything but a dedicated window).

Haven't used a text hooker since 2013. No idea about the state of the art.
