It was humbling!All good words to know. 網 and 掴む are common words, if that's what was used. セミ is not -very- common (compared to うさぎ、カエル、 and 蛍 for example) but still it's fairly common. The sound of cicadas in the trees still speaks of summer to me, even though I haven't lived in an area with cicadas for a very long time. I never did catch a living cicada, although I did find plenty of cast off shells from molting cicadas. I see it used for seasonal associations in Japanese a fair bit, although not as often as 蛍.
