I know I have been posting here a lot, but honestly, this is the BEST place to get guidance from.

I want to make switch to Japanese to Japanese.

Are there any pre-made Japanese-Japanese decks that could go along with this? I mean specifically for this purpose only?

I had about a weeks experience with Tanuki deck. Its been really fun. I mean I actually enjoyed studying like this. But there is a BIG problem. For example, in easy cases,
1)
Expression ->お寿司を一口で食べる Word -> 一口 Meaning-> 一回で口に入れること
"The event of inserting something in mouth one at a time". How do I know I am understanding this correctly? It just "feels" like it.
I was lucky here because I knew every word in the meaning and sentences.

2)
At other times, like
Expression -> 兄が素晴らしい油絵を描いた, Brother drew a beautiful "something". The meaning is pretty funny.
Word -> 油絵 Meaning -> 油絵の具でかいた絵.

"An oil painting is a painting, that is made from the tools of oil painting". The word is in the meaning? So I use my RTK and sort of guess that its probably oil picture -> oil painting. In other cases I HAVE to look at English meaning, which defeats the purpose of Japanese - Japanese. This is the most annoying aspect.

3) Finally, sometimes when I don't understand the meanings of Expression and The Meaning, I have to search for branches, create my own sometimes. Braches can go over 20 till they make a complete loop. This is really tiring.

So I came to a conclusion that there should be a premade deck , with something like i+1 for Japanese to Japanese too. Is there any deck like this? Or Should I continue with Tanuki Deck. Or should I just buy the decks JapaneseLevelUp offers (They are REALLY expensive). Is the One Deck good?

I personally wouldn't pay for JLVLUP decks because they cost as much as textbooks basically while being measly small packs of sentences. They're pretty good, but they're way way overpriced if you value your money. Buy some manga instead, or even better use the money to buy a children's J-J dictionary.

Using a children's J-J dictionary is a nice hack for learners trying to make J-J cards. The definitions are simplistic and not wordy, and often have illustrations. The one's targeted at elementary school children usually have 20,000-30,000 words depending on the brand (you can compare and contrast as they all have their pluses and minuses) so they're intended to cover a wide variety of situations.

AFAIK ppl who use Japanese definitions tend put them on the front.

I put them on the back.

@anotherjohn : Oh!? How did I miss such an obvious connection... haha I guess I was too focused on '油絵' の具 to pay attention to 油 '絵の具'. Well now that makes sense.

So anyone here who has experience with J-J decks, can you recommend me a good deck?

That would kind of defeat the purpose of testing yourself on a word, would it not? I put Japanese definitions on the back, example sentence on the front.

I wouldn't recommend a 100% J-J deck. I think it makes things take a needlessly long amount of time.
I would, however, suggest throwing in Japanese definitions. Even if you can't understand them now they'll make sense later and they work wonders for untangling similar words and shades of nuance.

Edit: My personal deck (that I made myself) has the Japanese word + example sentences on one side and the English AND Japanese definitions on the other side.

You can take your English deck and have the Anki add-on reorganise any j-j Deck to be as close to i+1 as possible. I did this with both my meaning and expression field for the one deck. This has worked wonderfully for me.

@Finalrpg. How? Can anyone direct me to a tutorial here?
